Indigo Dyeing Workshop Heritage Days Fall Festival

November 11, 2017, 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Indigo Dyeing

Location has Changed – Now Located at the Horticulture Complex at the State Botanical Garden

$45 General Admission, $40.50 Members

Indigo has been a major part of the American landscape since the invention of blue jeans.  In this workshop, participants will gain a rich understanding of the Indigo plant, its environment, history and role as a heritage plant of Georgia.  We will learn natural dyeing techniques such as clamping, folding and tying with eco-dyer Donna Hardy.  Each participant will be given a silk scarf and are encouraged to bring one extra piece of fabric or garment of their choice (must be pre-washed 100% cotton or 100% silk).  This workshop is geared towards adults.  Participants should be prepared to have fun and get messy as indigo is a strong natural dye.

Limited to 12 participants
