Meet your Neighbours Opening Reception

August 27, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

| Free

Join us for the Opening Reception for Chuck Murphy and Jena Johnson

Have you ever felt the menacing stare of a vulture or cardinal? Did you know that insects are often covered with multicolored hairs of varying shapes and sizes? Have you ever been mesmerized by the ornate pattern of scales on a snake? The natural world is filled with wonders often only visible in enlarged photographs of these creatures. But you don’t have to travel to exotic lands to see wondrous creatures: They’re in your own back yard!

This photo exhibit brings you face to face with birds, bugs, snakes, frogs and other animals found locally. Athens photographers Chuck Murphy and Jena Johnson will exhibit photographs they’ve created for the “Meet Your Neighbours” (MYN) project. MYN photographers around the world capture images of animals and plants against a pure white background. This eliminates visual clutter and isolates the subject so viewers can appreciate the amazing beauty of each species.

Chuck is an award-winning nature photographer. Jena is an entomologist who enjoys macrophotography. Their works have been displayed in many local art venues and have also been published in a variety of local and national print media. With this show, they bring their skill, artistry, and love of nature to a local audience.
