Ball co-chairmen Kathy Lanigan of Thomasville and Henrietta Singletary of Albany invite guests to relive the glamorous, carefree "Jazz Age" at the 29th annual Gardens of the World Ball celebrating "Midnight in Paris...An Elegant Soirée" on Saturday, May 4. Presented by the Garden's Board of Advisors and BNY Mellon Wealth Management, the 2013 Ball will showcase Paris in the Roaring 1920s.
Kathy Rainer and Tricky Wolfes of Parties to Die For in Atlanta and artist Lynwood Hall of Moultrie will design an unforgettable evening for the anticipated 250 Ball guests as they travel back in time to Paris. A formal, seated dinner with fanciful French cuisine, live jazz and dancing will set the stage for an elegant soirée.
To kick off the evening, guests will enjoy hors d'oeuvres while perusing a silent auction. Co-chaired by Betty Balentine of Atlanta and Polly Mattox of LaGrange, the Silent Auction will feature lively bidding during the cabaret cocktail hour overlooking the International Garden. The auction will offer an array of jewelry, original and decorative art, vacation homes and destinations, and sports and entertainment packages, most of which are donated or acquired by the 80-member Board of Advisors.
Corporate sponsorships at the State Botanical Garden have grown steadily with BNY Mellon at the helm as the presenting sponsor for six recent balls. The Garden is fortunate to have many local and statewide corporate sponsors as well as individual patrons who value its mission of teaching, research and outreach. The Board of Advisors will recognize these generous sponsors and patrons with a Patron Party on the evening of May 3 at UGA's Richard B. Russell Special Collections Library.
