Giving to the State Botanical Garden not only supports its ongoing functions but also leaves a legacy that future generations will enjoy. Your gifts can assist in numerous ways, ranging from funding conservation and research to aiding educational programs for children, families and adults. Memorials and tributes at the Garden may be purchased to honor special loved ones, and distinguished Named Gifts create an impression that will last for years to come. Whatever form it takes, your donation will benefit the community of Athens, the state of Georgia and a network of environmentalists across the globe.
Joining our membership support group is the easiest way to become more involved in the activities of the State Botanical Garden of Georgia. This charitable organization allows its members to support the Garden’s work and mission while gaining a closer connection to the people who make it grow. Friends receive discounts on the majority of events and programs offered at the Garden as well as special invitations to advance plant sales, horticultural talks and trips to other regional attractions. The Friends’ quarterly newsletter provides additional information about upcoming Garden events and features current articles by our knowledgeable Garden staff.
Looking for an opportunity to benefit your Garden, your community and your environment? Each year, the goals of the State Botanical Garden are made possible by the commitment of our Garden Volunteers. They welcome and inform Garden visitors, grow and maintain areas with our curators and support the spectrum of classes and events held annually. Our Volunteers share a sense of care, generosity and duty. In return for their contribution, the Garden strives to offer them unique and fulfilling experiences in a setting unlike any other.
The Gardens of the World Ball is an annual event sponsored and produced by the Board of Advisors of the State Botanical Garden of Georgia. Each year the Ball chairman selects a country to celebrate. That country's flora, garden and cultural history are featured at the Ball. Held the first Saturday in May in the Alice Hand Callaway Visitor Center & Conservatory, the Ball attracts some 250 guests. Garden patrons include prominent citizens from throughout the state, and often ambassadors, consul generals and members of Congress.
