Grow the Children’s Garden
Grow the Children's Garden: Help us reach our $5 million goal!
Please enjoy a botanical garden educational experience in your own backyard. Here are many of our activities that we have modified for you to do at home with your family.
Our Connect to Protect activities are designed to teach about the world of native plants and their pollinators. These coloring book pages are filled with different ways to connect to the important pollination services happening right under our nose.
The State Botanical Garden of Georgia has weekly activities in the Alice H. Richards Children’s garden. Enjoy some of our favorites that have been adapted for your garden with your young explorers. This section also includes the Garden Earth Explorers Passport which tells some of Georgia’s most exciting natural history stories. It was developed for the children’s garden but all activities can be done at home. When the Gift Shop reopens come to get your passport stamped and a prize.
While our Field Trip Activities are designed as the before and after manuals to enhance the experience of our school field trips, these activities are also stand alone lessons that can be done at home. Each manual is full of information and nature collecting materials.
Through Garden Earth Naturalists, children will learn about how earth‘s ecosystems function and what they can do to guard and restore the life-giving, ecological services. GEN provides an in-depth understanding of an ecosystem. The instructional materials organize content matter into “Departments” which represent the life-support functions or “eco-services” that Earth’s ecosystems provide to maintain a quality life on this planet.
