Friends Trip to Massee Lane Gardens
February 22, 7:45 am - 5:00 pm
Join the Friends for a bus trip to Massee Lane Gardens in Fort Valley, Georgia, on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. The garden is the nine-acre headquarters of the American Camellia Society, featuring one of the world’s finest collections of camellias. The trip includes a guided walking tour through the camellia collection, the Abendroth Japanese Garden, a children’s garden, the garden headquarters containing one of the largest Boehm porcelain collections on public display in the U.S., and a gift shop.
After the garden tour, we will journey to Montezuma, Georgia, to have lunch at the Yoder’s Deitch Haus. (Each traveler will be responsible for their own lunch selection and payment, between $8-$15, depending on their selections.) Yoder’s cafeteria-style food offers many choices and features Mennonite home cooking and spectacular desserts!
Our day trip leaves the State Botanical Garden at 7:45 a.m. and will return by 5 p.m. A moderate amount of walking is required at the camellia gardens. The cost is $60 for Friends of the Garden members and $67 for non-members. The registration fee includes round-trip, chartered-bus transportation, admission to Massee Lane Gardens, and snacks for the bus. The registration deadline is noon on February 15. Seating is limited to 54 participants and will fill up quickly!
