Soap Making 101 Beginning Cold Process

November 16, 2019, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Soap Making 101

$65 General Admission, $58.50 Members

Soap Making 101 is a beginning-level soapmaking class designed to teach students to make soap by hand at home. The main focus of this class is the “cold process” soapmaking method. Although it may seem complicated when you are first starting out, making your own soap from scratch (the way some of our grandparents did) using all-natural ingredients can be both fun and rewarding ~ not to mention extremely addicting! We will cover what soap is, soap process, choosing fats and lye safety. Each student makes one pound of soap they get to take with them. If you’ve ever measured, mixed, and baked anything then you can make soap.

Fees cover instruction, safety equipment (apron, gloves and glasses) and all soaping-making ingredients. It DOES NOT include a mold. You may buy a one pound silicone square soap mold from us for $10, bring your own or up-cycle an appropriate vessel like a milk carton or something similar. Read about it here: Recycle your Recyclables – Soap Molds

Limited to 20 participants
