The State Botanical Garden of Georgia at UGA is moving its annual spring plant sale to an online platform because of the state’s restriction on gathering in groups and directive to practice social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic.

The sale will run from April 17 until May 6th, with our last day for plant pickups on May 8, 2020. Plants for sale will be posted in our online store. The 2020 sale will feature many varieties of perennials, shrubs, trees, vegetables and more. The plants will be available for pickup weekdays at the horticulture complex during a designated time. As our inventory sells out, we hope to add new inventory on Mondays and Tuesdays of each week.


As always, all proceeds from the sales will benefit the garden’s horticulture and conservation programs.

Given the current situation surrounding COVID-19, the State Botanical Garden of Georgia is taking steps to keep our communities healthy by limiting social interactions.

Here are the adjustments we are making:

  • The 2020 Plant Sale is offered entirely online.
  • All orders must be placed and paid for in advance using the online store.
  • Pickups will be scheduled at our Horticulture Complex.
  • Customers will load their plant orders into their own vehicles.
  • We will practice recommended social distancing and safety measures.

Plants add beauty and benefits for wildlife and pollinators. Gardening is also a great way to provide healthy food as well as peaceful therapy for our minds. Friends of the State Botanical Garden receive a 10% discount.

FAQ’s about our Online Plant Sale:

Yes. You will receive 2 emails from the Garden. The first will be a Thank you that is automated on order completion. The second will be the notice that our Horticulture staff have received your order and are working to get it ready for pickup.

Under the current circumstances, all plant sales must be final. No refunds, returns, or exchanges are allowed. If you have concerns about your plant material, please notify us at pick up.

On the front page of the store, there will be a section that showcases new additions to the store that we will try to update weekly

Before being allowed to enter your payment information, the store will prompt you to choose a date and time window for your order pickup. Please be aware, there are limited spots in each time slot and we will have to return your order to our inventory if you do not make your appointment.
