Art Exhibit Opening ReceptionGrowing Through Art – Athens Art Association Artists

The Athens Art Association, in celebrating their centennial year, presents the exhibition, “Growing Through Art”. Current members are presenting watercolor, pastel, oil, acrylic, and color pencil art created in a variety of styles with an emphasis on botanicals and pollinators found in garden and field settings. Founder Laura Blackshear created this group in 1919. Many of the 20 charter members were professional artists. They presented their art to the Athens area through community exhibits, reaching out to students while encouraging an interest in the practice and enjoyment of art. This exhibition is the finale of the 2019 series of exhibitions at the Georgia Museum of Art, the Lyndon House Arts Center, the Athens Clarke Regional Library, and now the botanical garden.
