The State Botanical Garden will close daily at 4 p.m. beginning Friday, Nov. 1.

Joining our membership support group is the easiest way to become more involved in the activities of the State Botanical Garden of Georgia.

This charitable organization allows its members to support the garden’s work and mission while gaining a closer connection to the people who make it grow. Friends receive discounts on many events and programs offered at the garden, as well as special invitations to advance plant sales, horticultural talks and trips to other regional attractions. The garden’s magazine, Georgia Garden, is exclusively mailed to Friends of the Garden members three times a year. The magazine provides additional information about upcoming garden events and features current articles by our knowledgeable garden staff.

Membership levels

From student, individual, senior and family memberships to patron, sponsor and life memberships, the garden has a level of membership that fits every interest. Friends memberships are one year in length, and because the garden is a 501(c)(3) organization, memberships are also tax deductible. All memberships support the State Botanical Garden of Georgia.

Membership benefits

Friends members gain more than just the satisfaction of supporting the garden. Friends have access to member-only plant sales and events, including Friends road trips to private gardens and attractions such as the Biltmore Estate and Callaway Gardens. The Friends also host an annual meeting featuring a prominent gardening keynote speaker.

Members receive discounts at most garden events, classes and sales. There are also discounts available in the garden gift shop and some Athens-area home and garden centers. The garden’s participation in the American Horticultural Society Reciprocal Garden Program allows members to receive various discounts at many other gardens across the U.S. with the Friends membership card.
