Our Mission
To educate about the critical importance of pollinators and their decline and encourage the use of pollinator gardens to protect, restore and create viable pollinator habitats around Georgia.
Our History
GAPP, initially called the Greater Atlanta Pollinator Partnership, was formed in 2009 as an informal partnership by representatives of the U.S. Forest Service, Georgia Highlands College and the Atlanta Botanical Garden. This was done in response to the rapid and significant landscape changes in metropolitan Atlanta caused by the housing boom of the 1990s and early 2000s. In 2020, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources joined the GAPP partnership, the scope of which was then expanded statewide to what is now the Georgia Pollinator Partnership.
Our Goals
1. Educate and inform about the importance of pollinators and their conservation.
2. Involve homeowners, schools, colleges and universities, large and small businesses, nature centers, houses of worship and public and private green spaces to help support pollinator conservation, research and habitat restoration in Georgia.
3. Disseminate clear guidelines for pollinator-friendly habitat design and installation in Georgia.
4. Establish and foster a pollinator conservation network across Georgia through discussion, education, an interactive pollinator garden map and other resources.
